Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is scheduled to meet Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada to discuss the Krishna river water-sharing arrangement and the Telugu Ganga project, which provides for an annual supply of 12,000 million cubic feet (TMC) of Krishna water to Chennai. However, Tamil Nadu had received only 2.251 TMC by October 9, highlighting the gap between agreed supplies and actual inflows amid Chennai’s drinking water needs. The discussions are also expected to cover the proposed Godavari–Krishna–Cauvery river-linking project and concerns over dam construction that could affect water flows into Tamil Nadu. The proposed meeting underscores the importance of inter-state cooperation and direct political dialogue in resolving water-sharing challenges, with its effectiveness ultimately depending on agreed release schedules, water availability and coordination between the two state administrations.
