Power Strike Disrupts Water Supply to Thousands of Households in Gurugram

Gurugram

Power outages linked to the ongoing strike by Haryana’s electricity employees disrupted water supply across several parts of Gurugram, leaving thousands of households without reliable access to drinking water. The outages affected boosting stations and disrupted pumping operations, with residents in Sector 9A and Hari Nagar reporting prolonged interruptions. Residents’ welfare associations alleged that repeated attempts to contact officials yielded little response, while water tankers were difficult to secure. The disruption highlights the dependence of urban water supply systems on uninterrupted electricity for pumping and distribution, underscoring the need for contingency arrangements, stronger interdepartmental coordination and emergency water provision during power outages.
