India’s drinking water and wastewater treatment market is projected to grow from ₹99,900 crore in FY25 to ₹1.70 lakh crore by FY30, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.2%, with operations and maintenance (O&M) emerging as a faster-growing segment as major infrastructure projects transition towards sustained operation. O&M expenditure is forecast to rise from ₹17,000 crore to ₹35,600 crore, growing at 16% annually, while engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) spending is projected to increase from ₹82,900 crore to ₹1.34 lakh crore at a 10.1% CAGR. O&M’s share of the market is expected to expand from 17% to 21% by FY30. Public-sector customers accounted for 80% of market value in FY25, underscoring the importance of government-funded water infrastructure. The outlook highlights growing opportunities in treatment-plant management, digital monitoring, wastewater reuse, regulatory compliance and lifecycle services, although EPC is expected to remain the dominant segment in absolute spending.
